Security: Software disk encryption can slow down its performance by up to 45%!

As reported by "Tom's Hardware," the native Windows 11 feature for disk encryption (BitLocker) can slow down the performance of an SSD disk by up to 45%. This situation occurs only when software encryption is enabled (in many cases, this is the only option). A decrease in performance is not observed in the case of hardware-based encryption. Typically, the performance drop has been around 20%.

Why is disk encryption useful, and why is it worthwhile to entrust the implementation of this solution to a company? Because the system password alone secures it only against unauthorized access, while access to data is always possible without logging in (e.g., when connecting the disk to another computer). A strong system password and enabled disk encryption provide robust security in the event of a lost or stolen computer.
